Geneticist Udayan Borthakur and his team designed one of the finest forensic DNA tracking models in the world to identify, trace and assess rhino populations in Assam, along the floodplains of the Brahmaputra river. His work today is replicated across Southeast Asia and helps conserve this powerful animal in its last few natural habitats. Yet, in Assam, a strange new dilemma has arisen.
